2016 Advocacy Award: Senator James Cowan and Bev Heim-Myers
For several years, Senator Cowan and Bev Heim-Myers, Chair of the Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness (CCGF) and CEO of the Huntington Society of Canada and the member organizations of CCGF, have led efforts to pass a law preventing genetic discrimination in Canada.

Remarks by Senator James Cowan, Parliament of Canada
For several years, Senator Cowan has led efforts in Parliament to pass a new law to prevent genetic discrimination in Canada. In his remarks, Senator Cowan will address why it is important for Canada to join the United States and other countries in establishing strong protections against genetic discrimination.
